The new rules notified by Union Environment Ministry to curb over 6000 tones of uncollected plastic, rules related to plastic waste management to give thrust on plastic waste minimization, involving waste pickers, source segregation, recycling and waste processors in collection of plastic waste were also reviewed and revised.
New Rules aspects :-
Banned plastic carry bags thinner than 50 microns. The rules also have the provision to fine retailers and street vendor who provide their products in plastic packing which do not conform to the new rules. Individual and bulk generators have to segregate the plastic waste at source and should handover the segregate waste and pay user fee as per bye-laws of the local bodies.

Mr. Adhia said that 40% of the interest accrued on contributions made after 1st April will be tax exempted and remaining 60% % will be taxed. 60% tax withdrawal will affect less than one fifth of employees with high salaries.

Cuba based company said that the service won’t be available until THE PERIOD of implementation and technical testing both operators are undertaking is complete. P K Nair founder director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), pune is no more. He was 86. Mr Nair joined the film and television institute of india , pune as a research assistant in 1961 and went on to play a key role in setting up of the NFAI in 1964. He was appointed assistant curator in 1965 and continued with the NFAI till 1991 and by the time he retired as NFAI director he has acquired a whopping 12,000 films for the archive. Of these 8,000 were Indian and rest foreign films. His life and work has been immortalized in the documentary celluloid man made by shivendra singh dungarpur.

Logistics Park
The railway will setup five multi model logistic park including one on the river front at VARANASI along the dedicated freight corridor to facilitate seamless movement of goods. 8 highway projects
The govt. cleared 8 high way projects worth Rs. 6000 crore. The total length of the projects is 350 km. Out of 8 the 2 will be undertaken on the newly conceived hybrid annuity model and 6 will be taken up on govt.-funded engineering, procurement and construction model. Most of these projects are in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.


International Conference
J P Nadda (Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare) inaugurated a 3 days international conference of combating Antimicrobial resistance in New Delhi. Nadda said that the first step in addressing the problem if AMR is to avoid the need for antibiotics at all in the first place and improved water and sanitation in the absence of which the proliferation of diarrheal diseases result in inappropriate antibiotic use.

The estimated cost of this project is Rs 18020 Crore and prepared by RITES Ltd. The govt. has approved the agreement of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) And Guwahati Metro Rail Corporation Limited(GMRCL). The capacity of the passengers is around 975. The 203 Km metro corridor to be completed in 3 phases, forecasts traffic demand up to the year 2045.

Govt. unveiled the first – ever policy for the country’s capital goods sector which envisages creation of 21 million additional jobs by 2025. The policy envisions increasing the share of capital goods in total manufacturing activity from 12 % at present 20% by 2025. The objective of the national capital goods policy are to create an ecosystem for a globally competitive capital goods sector to achieve total production in excess of Rs 7.5 LAKH crore by 2025 from the current RS 2.3 Lakh crore. It also aims increase direct domestic employment from the current 1.4 million to at least 5 million and indirect employment from the current 7 million to 25 million by 2025, thus providing additional employment to over 21 million people.

According to WHO India is home to 13 out of 20 most polluted cities in the world with air pollution level deteriorating during the past decade. Indian citizens had a higher exposure to average particulate matter than their Chinese counterparts, an analysis of satellite data on particular matter has shown environmental group Greenpeace has claimed. It said while china’s strong measure to curb pollution have contributed to the biggest year on year air quality improvement on record in contrast India;s pollution levels continued a decade – long increase to reach the highest level on record.


London No 1 Expensive cities
London has been ranked as the world’s most expensive city to love and work in ahead of New York and Hong Kong according to a UK study that puts MUMBAI at 17th. The only Indian city on the list of top 20, Mumbai is ranked 17th ahead only Berlin, Johannesburg and Rio de Janeiro by the UK real estate firm Savills survey. More expensive that it was 5 year ago, and has been ranked at the top of the index since 2014. Men’s Singles
Novak Djokovic was the defending champion. He successfully defended his title defeating ANDY Murray 6-1, 7-5,7-6 (7-3) in a rematch of the previous year’s final. Djokovic also equaled ROY EMERSON’s all time men’s record of 6 Australian Open Singles titles. As a result of this victory, Djokovic now holds 11 grand slam titles and equaled ROD LAVER AND Bjorn Borg’s tally.
Australian Hewitt a 2005 Finalist , two 0time Grand Slam Champion and former no 1 played his last professional matches in both singles and doubles. In singles he lost to DAVID Ferrer in the second round and in doubles he lost in the 3rd round.

88th Annual Academy Awards

APRIL UPDATE 2016 Rajendra Singh
The government has appointed Rajendra Singh as the Director General (DG) of Indian Coast Guard, the country’s coastal protection force. This is the first time an officer from within has been promoted as its chief which was traditionally headed by a three-star Naval officer. Mr. Singh joined the coast Guard in 1980 and is currently the Additional Director General. He will replace Vice Admiral HCS Bisht who has been promoted as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command.

Ray Tomlinson the inventor of email and the man who picked the @ symbol for addresses has died aged 74.”A true technology pioneer Ray was the man who brought us email in the early days of networked computers” Raytheon spokesman Mike Doble said in a statement confirming his death. The tech world reacted with sadness over the passing of Romlinson, who became a cult figure for his invention in 1971 of a program for ARPANET, the Internet’s predecessor, that allowed people to send person to person message to other computer users on the other servers.

On the occasion the 39 year old “MAIN AUR CHARLES” actor, also shared his memories of the time he spent as an international student in the country. The members of a non profit organization south asian public affairs council (SAPAC) honored the visiting actor with an achievement award for making his mark in the film industry. Receiving the award, Hooda said he got his first break in the bollywood industry because of his Australian accent. Myanmar has granted operating licenses to 4 Asian banks, bringing the number of foreign banks allowed to conduct business in the previously isolated country to 13. Bank for investment and development of Vietnam, SBI, Taiwan;s Sun Commercial Bank, South Korea shinhan Bank were granted preliminary licenses, The approval gives the banks 12 months to demonstrate they can fulfill business plans laid out in their application to Myanmar’s govt. before they will be granted permanent licenses.

Saeed Jaffrey OBE was an Indian Born British Actor who appeared on radio, state, television and file. He appeared in numerous British, American and Indian Movies. He was considered to be Britain’s highest-profile Asian Actor in the 1980 to 1990. Saeed was born on 8 Jan 1929 in Malerkotla Punjab to a Punjabi Muslim Family. He ad attended Minto Circlr at Aligarh Muslim University.
He began his carred by setting up a theatre company called Unity Theatre at Delhi. His early theatrical work included riles in production of Tennessee Williams , Charistopher Fry, Wilde, and Shakespeare. He was the first Indian to take Shakespearean plays on a tour to the United States. He was also the first Asian to receive British and Canadian Academy Awards nominations and also the first Indian to receive the ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (OBE) for his contributions to DRAMA. Saeed Jaffrey died from a brain hemorrhage at his home in LONDON on 15 November 2015.

The 2015 edition of the Global Human Development Report was released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). India was placed at 130th place in the index thus gaining one place from its 131st place during 2014. 2015 HDI ranking is based on data from 188 countries. India score in HDI is 0.609 and it thus stood well below the average score of 0.630 for countries in the medium human development group. India stands higher than neighbors Bangladesh and Pakistan. DECEMBER 16 2015
The supreme court held that RBI is liable to disclose information about the banks and financial institutions for their action against the loan defaulters including industrialists under the RTI Act 2005. The court further ruled that RBI has statutory duty to upload public interest and not the interest of individual banks. It has no legal duty to maximize the benefit of nay public sector or private sector bank, and thus there is no relationship of trust between them.
