P K Nair founder director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), pune is no more. He was 86. Mr Nair joined the film and television institute of india , pune as a research assistant in 1961 and went on to play a key role in setting up of the NFAI in 1964. He was appointed assistant curator in 1965 and continued with the NFAI till 1991 and by the time he retired as NFAI director he has acquired a whopping 12,000 films for the archive. Of these 8,000 were Indian and rest foreign films. His life and work has been immortalized in the documentary celluloid man made by shivendra singh dungarpur.

Sunita Jain
Hindi scholar and writer sunita jain’s poetry collection KSHMA has been selected for the prestigious VYAS SAMMAN 2015. Instituted by the K K Birla foundation the award carries an amount of Rs 2.50 Lakh and is given to outstanding literary work in Hindi authored by an Indian citizen.


Logistics Park
The railway will setup five multi model logistic park including one on the river front at VARANASI along the dedicated freight corridor to facilitate seamless movement of goods. The logistics hubs expected to cost around Rs 5000 Crore are expected to be set up in Gujarat, Punjab , Rajasthan , UP and Maharashtra.


AYUSH AND WHO
The Union Cabinet approved signing of a collaborative agreement between the Ministry of Ayueveda, Yoga and Naturopathy , Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and WHO.
The Benefits of the collaboration:-
It helps for education, skill development, workshops and publications, facilitate advocacy and dissemination of information AYUSH systems amongst the member states.


8 highway projects
The govt. cleared 8 high way projects worth Rs. 6000 crore. The total length of the projects is 350 km. Out of 8 the 2 will be undertaken on the newly conceived hybrid annuity model and 6 will be taken up on govt.-funded engineering, procurement and construction model. Most of these projects are in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.


International Conference
J P Nadda (Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare) inaugurated a 3 days international conference of combating Antimicrobial resistance in New Delhi. Nadda said that the first step in addressing the problem if AMR is to avoid the need for antibiotics at all in the first place and improved water and sanitation in the absence of which the proliferation of diarrheal diseases result in inappropriate antibiotic use.


Resul Pookutty
Oscar Winning Sound designer Pookutty has made the India proud by becoming the first asian to win the award for best sound documentary INDIA’s DAUGHTER at the coveted Motion Picture Sound Editor 63rd annual Golden Reel Awards. India’ Daughter, made on the Delhi gang rape incident of December 2012 which is banned in India.


Setu Bharatam
PM Modi launched STEU BHARATAM – with and investment of Rs 50K Crore to build bridges for safe and seamless travel on National Highways. The aim of this project is to make all national highways Railway Level Crossing free By 2019, including 208 new ROAD OVER BRIDGES/ ROAD UNDER BRIDGES and 1500 bridges will be widened, rehabilitated.


Nari Shankti Puraskar 2015
The President of India PARANAB MUKHERJEE conferred the NARI SHAKTI PURASKAR 2015 on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Nari Shakti Puraskar include Institutional awards on 6 categories instituted in the name of illustrious daughters of India i.e. Rani Rudramma Devi, Mata jijabai, Kannagi Devi, Rani Gaidinliu Zeliang, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar And Rani Lakshmibai. Besides these are individual awards in 2 categories for courage and bravery and for making outstanding contributions to women’s Endeavour / community work/ making a difference / women empowerment. Nari Shakti Puraskar carries a cash award of 2 Lakh. and certificate for institutions and 1 Lakh and a certificate for individual.


Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice
Justice Dinesh Maheshwari of LUCHNOW bench of the Allahabad High Court has been sworn in as the chief justice of the Meghalaya high Court. Governor V. Shanmuganathan administered the oath of office to chief justice Maheshwari at a ceremony (RAJ BHAVAN).
