Delhi University
South Asian University professor Yogesh Kumar Tyagi has been appointed the new vice-chancellor of Delhi University after his name was selected by President Pranab Mukherjee from among four persons. Human resource development ministry had forwarded the four names to the president who as visitor of central University makes the final selections. Kalikho Pul
Kalikho Pul was sworn in as the 9th Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. Pul was sworn in as the CM with the support of 18 rebel congress MLAs, and two independents and 11 BJP MLAs who gave outside support. NASA SCHOLARSHIP
18 year old Sataparna Mukherjee a class 12 student from a village around 30 km Kolkata has been selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for its prestigious Goddard Internship Program under the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS). She is among five scholars chosen from across the world for this program .Sataparna’s paper on BLACK HOLE THEORY and how this could be used to create a TIME MACHINE.


ZIKAVIRUS
The World Bank said it is making US $150 million in financing immediately available to help combat the ZIKA virus outbreak in affected Latin American and Caribbean countries. The multilateral lender said in a statement that it stands ready to increase its support if needed and the initial amount is based on current demands from the affected countries and assessments from teams of experts sent there.

Direct Telephone Traffic Deal
To establish direct international voice traffic (Incoming and Outgoing) Cuban and U S Telephone firm have signed an agreement. New York based Verizon Partner Solution a division of Verizon Communications Inc and Cuba’s state telecommunications company ETEESA signed the interconnection. Cuba based company said that the service won’t be available until THE PERIOD of implementation and technical testing both operators are undertaking is complete. Verizon became the first U S based wireless company to offer travelers roaming services in CUBA.
