APRIL UPDATE 2016 Rajendra Singh
The government has appointed Rajendra Singh as the Director General (DG) of Indian Coast Guard, the country’s coastal protection force. This is the first time an officer from within has been promoted as its chief which was traditionally headed by a three-star Naval officer. Mr. Singh joined the coast Guard in 1980 and is currently the Additional Director General. He will replace Vice Admiral HCS Bisht who has been promoted as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command.


April Updates 2016 Ray Tomlinson
Ray Tomlinson the inventor of email and the man who picked the @ symbol for addresses has died aged 74.”A true technology pioneer Ray was the man who brought us email in the early days of networked computers” Raytheon spokesman Mike Doble said in a statement confirming his death. The tech world reacted with sadness over the passing of Romlinson, who became a cult figure for his invention in 1971 of a program for ARPANET, the Internet’s predecessor, that allowed people to send person to person message to other computer users on the other servers.

Biraja Prasad, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tajikistan, passed away. Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Vikas confirmed the news. “Our deepest condolences to family of Ambassador Biraja Prasad Our Ambassador to Tajikistan who tragically passed away.” Mr Parsad 1998 batch Indian Foreign Services officer of ODISHA was the youngest IFS officer to be appointed as India’s Ambassador to any country. He had also worked as Deputy Chief of Mission in Embassy of India at Madrid. In the Ministry Prasad handled works related to india’s bilateral relations with RUSIAN FEDERATION FRANCE , GERMANY AND SPAIN.

Indira Gandhi Internation Airport has received 3 international awards, including for best airport by size in the Asia pacific region. These awards have been given by the Airports council International-ACI for 2015. Delhi airport has retained the world’s number one position for the second consecutive year in 25 to 40 million passengers per annum category. The two other are for best airport by size and region asia pacific and second best airport by region.


01 March 2016 Updates
Bollywood Actor Randeep Hooda felicitated by Melbourne based South Asian community members at a function. On the occasion the 39 year old “MAIN AUR CHARLES” actor, also shared his memories of the time he spent as an international student in the country. The members of a non profit organization south asian public affairs council (SAPAC) honored the visiting actor with an achievement award for making his mark in the film industry. Receiving the award, Hooda said he got his first break in the bollywood industry because of his Australian accent. The actor made his debut as an NRI from Australia in MIRA NAIR’s Film MoonSoon Wedding in 2001.

Bill Gates continued his region as the world’s richest person with a net worth of $75 billion according to Forbes annual ranking of billionaires with Reliance industries chairman Mukesh Ambani leading the pack of 84 Indian billionaires in 2016.


03 March 2016 Update
PepsiCo has inked a 4 year ground sponsorship agreement with the Board of Control for cricket in India.The sponsorship is for all domestic and international matches played by team India BUT NOR IPL. The company will be the official refreshment partner, official snacks partner and official sports drink partner with its brand Gatorade.



05 March 2016 UPDATES
Myanmar has granted operating licenses to 4 Asian banks, bringing the number of foreign banks allowed to conduct business in the previously isolated country to 13. Bank for investment and development of Vietnam, SBI, Taiwan;s Sun Commercial Bank, South Korea shinhan Bank were granted preliminary licenses, The approval gives the banks 12 months to demonstrate they can fulfill business plans laid out in their application to Myanmar’s govt. before they will be granted permanent licenses.

Former first lady Nancy Reagan known for her influence and devotion to president Ronald Regan during his eight years in the WHITE HOUSE and his decades outside it died at age 94. As first lady, Regan famously spearheaded the 1980s JUST SAY NO campaign drug abuse, speaking at schools around the country over several years and urging the United Nations to improve drug education. Although she earned scorn for her decision to expensively renovate the white house during a recession she came to be revered for her work on social causes particularly in the republican party and among conservatives in general.
